For more than 20 years, the Historic Alexander Homestead sat vacant in East Charlotte. The decision was eventually made to tear it down. Hearing about these plans, Don and Caroline quickly came on the scene to save it. After purchasing and registering the 1903 home with the National Historical Society, it took over 2 years for Don and Caroline to restore it to its original condition.
While the site was first used as a bed and breakfast, they quickly realized it had the potential to be an incredible wedding venue. Luckily for us, they had exactly what it took to make this venue a romantic wedding space that is now a treasured part of Charlotte's wedding scene. Having been in the wedding industry for over 25 years, their daughter, Tirzah, is the brains behind each wedding you'll see here at Alexander Homestead today.
The ceremony site at Alexander Homestead features an outdoor gazebo and a beautiful lawn. It's a great option for your wedding if you'd like to have your ceremony in the fresh air, under the gazebo. Chairs can be set up on the grass in front of the gazebo, and their website says they can accommodate up to 215 guests.
Alexander Homestead has a reception barn on site, complete with bistro lighting and ample seating. The bar is nestled in the corner, and the inside walls open up to a buffet area, so there's no need to worry about running between rooms or getting lost for dinner.
If the weather is nice, you can even open up the side walls of the barn to the outdoors. This will expand your reception area and provide an amazing view of the beautiful grounds.
Alexander Homestead does include a bridal suite on the property, so many of my brides will choose to have their getting ready photos taken there. If you are looking for a nearby hotel for photos instead, or need a hotel block for your guests, some recommended options are the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel and the Grand Bohemian Hotel.
Alexander Homestead is located in Charlotte, North Carolina at 4717 Shamrock Drive, 28205.
