The extensive bamboo forest is one of the most iconic and memorable parts of Camelot Meadows, and many ask about it's history. It was originally planted in the late 1800s, and the forest is still very much alive and growing strong! Since bamboo is actually edible and grows incredibly quickly, the venue "harvests" and donates many of the bamboo shoots each year!
This venue is dedicated to Dr. Mark Baxa, who tragically died of brain cancer before his time. Before the beautiful open pastures and magical bamboo forest was developed into the venue it is today, Mark and his wife Deborah spent many years tending to the land together.
The lawn at Camelot Meadows is the most popular ceremony site, especially for weddings with a larger guest list. This is a wide, open pasture that is easily accessible from the main barn. Guests face the bamboo forest, with the barn on their left and the wooded lake shores on the right.
The aisle is made of planked wood all the way from the barn to the ceremony arch, so you don't need to worry about getting your shoes or your dress dirty!
If you have a smaller guest list, you might consider having your wedding ceremony in the memorable bamboo forest. Bistro lights are strung along the path, and the ceremony site has been recently updated with lovely stone floors. There are bamboo benches for guests to sit on, and you can set up additional chairs here as well.
The main structure at Camelot Meadows is the barn, which is most commonly used as the reception hall. Attached to the barn are bathrooms, a catering kitchen, the groom's suite, and the bridal suite. There is also a covered patio on the bamboo side of the barn, which is lit by twinkling lights.
Camelot Meadows does include a bridal suite and expansive groom's suite in the barn, so many of my couples will choose to have their getting ready photos taken there. If you are looking for a separate location for photos, or need a hotel for your guests, Camelot Meadows actually offers two rental homes on the property- the River Retreat and the Tiny House.
Camelot Meadows is located at 1335 Armstrong Rd, Belmont, NC 28012.
