Diana and my grandfather, David, had a very low key wedding. It was important to the couple that everyone feel very comfortable and that they were each respectful to their late spouses whom they had been married to for so many years and whose children and grandchildren made up most of the guests. When my mom talked to the bride in the days right before the wedding she mentioned that they were going to serve sheet cakes. She asked would they like a small wedding cake just for them? So that they could cut it together and have a top tier to save for an anniversary? Diana said David had also mentioned that and she did think it would be nice, but the wedding was less than a week away and it had probably been delayed too long.
My mom is never one to back down from a challenge, and she and my aunt scoured the internet for hours to find Sugar Crush Cakery, run by an at-home baker and located less than five miles from the wedding venue. Look at the gorgeous masterpiece that Shaelyn put together for them with almost no notice at all. And it took a little digging, but the bride adored the cake topper they found for them.
When they first started dating two short months ago, David had texted his children in a group text a photo of Diana saying “This is Diana, who said that it is alright if I call her my exclusive girlfriend.” Now, just a short time later, everyone gathered in Utah to attend their wedding! Love makes everyone young again. We were all so excited to meet the lovely bride!
Their wedding day was beautiful! If you didn’t know better you would have thought this happy couple was gathering to celebrate their 50’s anniversary, instead of their wedding. David and Diana were meant to spend these golden years together and I am so blessed to welcome Diana into our family.
