Four years of grueling work. A state knowledge exam. Countless hours of videos. A whole new language. And soon, a performance test that will determine her certification. Julia faced all of these head on in order to graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Deaf Studies over at UVU. Once she passes her certification exam, she will be a certified interpreter for ASL!
Julia’s spent the last four year learning everything she needs to know about Deaf culture and American Sign Language. Now, it’s time to celebrate! I love seeing hard work rewarded, and Julia’s graduation was extra impactful for me, because I’m hoping to be right where she’s at in a few years! American Sign Language is an absolutely beautiful language, and it is so excited to see a fellow classmate follow her dreams of becoming an interpreter!
Julia, you are a lovely graduate and I am so excited for this new career you’ve stepped into! I wish you all the luck in the world. We’re going to miss you in class!
