Uptown Charlotte Engagement Session at Romare Bearden Park
Rheanna + Jackson
Engagement Session February, 2022
We started our fun uptown Charlotte engagement session at Romare Bearden Park. Despite threats of rain throughout the week, it was a beautiful February day that only got better as we went along! Located right in the heart of the city, this park is extremely photogenic. With Charlotte’s beautiful skyline in the background, open fields, and winding paths of greenery, what’s not to love? Even though neither Rheanna nor Jackson have family here, they had their hearts set on having engagement photos with iconic Charlotte scenery. This is where they fell in love- this city is home to them.
I absolutely love getting to know the couples I photograph and hearing their story. Rheanna and Jackson smiled at each other as they told me the details of how he proposed. Even though they had been ring shopping together before, Jackson was understandably a little anxious about popping the question. Rheanna suspected something was going down when Jackson started acting nervous during their last beach trip of the year.
This romantic getaway was perfect because Jackson wasn’t looking for a crowd around them when he proposed. I can imagine how how his heart must have been beating when he gathered up the courage and asked Rheanna if she’d like to go on a walk with him along the coast. He knelt in the sand with the ring in his hand, and the two started their first moments together as fiancées on the ocean shores.
When planning Rheanna and Jackson’s engagement session with them, we knew we wanted to spend some time in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. Since they are planning their wedding out of town, I wanted to make sure that they had an experience that was memorable, and that included getting great engagement photos they could use while they were planning their wedding back home. This engagement session at Romare Bearden Park was a photography dream, but learning about Rheanna and Jackson’s love story was still the best part of the experience.
