Flower decorations can play a crucial role in creating an elegant and romantic atmosphere at a wedding! The use of high-quality, premium blooms can elevate the overall aesthetic of the event and make it feel more luxurious.
For example, rare, delicate flowers such as peonies, garden roses and ranunculus can create a beautiful, soft ambiance. While the use of classic, elegant blooms like white orchids, calla lilies, and hydrangeas can add a touch of sophistication to your big day. Don’t forget about how lush greenery, like eucalyptus and ferns, can help to create a natural and cozy atmosphere! See how some of these couples used floral design with their color palette in their ceremony!
Ceremony backdrops are one of the most common flower arrangements I see on a wedding day! These backdrops can range from simple and understated to elaborate and grand. Some couples make an actual backdrop behind them, and some couples will use foreground design elements, like arches at the altar or down the aisle. Other popular choices for ceremony backdrops include flower walls, greenery garlands and even suspended floral arrangements.
Want to feel like you and your wedding party are walking down a flower garden? Make sure your aisle has some floral decorations too! This can include using large floral arrangements to line the sides, such as tall vases filled with blooms, garlands of greenery or hanging floral arrangements. Many couple will sprinkle petals on the aisle, which looks so romantic and adds a subtle elegance!
The one thing no wedding is complete without! A bridal bouquet! Wedding bouquets come in a wide variety of styles, shapes, and sizes, each with its own unique look and type of flowers. Some of the most popular types of bouquets include round, cascading, and crescent. The type of bouquet a bride chooses can have a big impact on her overall look, and can be used to complement the style of the wedding, the other floral wedding decor on the scene, and the bride’s dress! This isn’t the only way to put flowers into your look. Some brides like to make a flower crown to wear as well!
Wedding floral decor can be used in a variety of ways at a wedding reception! Many couples also opt to reuse the ceremony flowers here, depending on the flow of your event space. You can repurpose your fresh flowers from your arch or altar flowers into reception centerpieces, or add them to the head table. This can help to save costs and create a cohesive look throughout your special day!
One popular way to use flowers in your wedding decorations is by using large floral arrangements as table centerpieces, such as tall vases filled with blooms or low-lying arrangements of flowers and greenery. An alternative idea to large floral centerpieces is to use smaller, more delicate floral elements throughout the space.
One of my favorite looks is when couples have greenery or flowers suspended in the area above the tables! Some of these wedding florists are just magical, and I fall in love when a design team makes something that literally looks like a flower chandelier!
Decorating the chairs at the reception with floral arrangements is a small but impactful way to elevate a wedding. This can be done by attaching a small floral arrangement to the back of each chair, such as a simple yet elegant bud vase with a single bloom, or a small bouquet tied with ribbon. You could also draping hanging garlands or greenery! This can add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your wedding venue. Your event designers can help you come up with some simple ideas like this that make a big impact!
One of the benefits of having a flower backdrop at your wedding is that it can be a fun and interactive element for your guests. They can take pictures in front of the backdrop and make memories that will last a lifetime! Additionally, a flower backdrop can make for beautiful and unique wedding photos for you and your spouse that will be treasured for years to come. This is one of the unique ways to add a personal touch to your wedding day, and make the beautiful blooms in your floral wedding decor really stand out.
Floral wedding decor can be used to accentuate and enhance the already existing focal points at your wedding venue or in your wedding decorations. For example, if your venue has unique architecture, such as a grand staircase or a beautiful fireplace, a large floral arrangement can be placed to draw attention to and work with that feature. Or you can use your wedding flowers to enhance a focal point that is already there- like your wedding cake table, or the dance floor!
Your cake is already going to have eyes on it, why not adorn it in fresh blooms! Make sure your wedding florist and your cake baker talk about your floral needs together so they can make sure the cake works well with the floral decor. You can also use flowers to highlight decorations you’re already putting up!
Wedding venues come in many different architectural styles and each one can present its own unique opportunities for using floral wedding decor to create a truly memorable event. Look around at your venue and take note of the aspects you like the most about it. Is there any creative lighting? Are you having an indoor wedding or an outdoor wedding? Are they any unique structures you want to draw attention to? Tell your decor vendor about your favorite parts and see if you can draw attention to them with an elaborate floral display!
I hope this post has inspired you to think about how you can use elaborate floral decor to make your wedding even more beautiful and memorable.
